The presence of both natural and human landmarks in this picture reminds us again that natural and human geography can never be completely apart from each another. They mutually affect each other, just as the mountain has prevented straight passage to the other side of it and people have responded by cutting a road into the side of the mountain to increase access to the area behind the mountain.
