This picture was taken along the busy streets of Bangkok where two dutiful policemen are controlling the heavy flow of traffic where traffic snarls are very common during peak hours. Traffic congestion is just about another pressing problem the Thai goverenment faces due to the rapid urbanisation in this present era. In addition, the recent coup that took place last year has prompted the military government to pick up necessary measures to ensure the well-being of the citizens.

This is a photograph of the Great Wall of China, one of the seven world wonders. This shows how much taller the wall is compared to the humans around and it took several years to build this defensive wall to protect the citizens of ancient China from foreign invaders. However it is ironic that millions of workers were dead in the process of building the wall itself. This reward of massive hardwork generates a significant amount of revenue for the economy of China due to the huge number of tourists who flock to visit this historical site.

There are many different types of clouds and this is one of them. This is called the Altocumulus Clouds. The formation of clouds is a part of the hydrogical cycle. When it rains, the clouds condense into water droplets and fall into the reserviors. This is where we get our source of water - an essential part of our life.

Everyone is in an ultimate race against time. We rush to complete our jobs, to save time and even rush just for the sake of rushing. But have we ever stop to thank the machine or rather an amazing invention that enable us to do so. The basic transportation device, for example the motorbike. Have we marvelled at its mechanism and its ability to sqeeze though small lanes, helping to us zip pass other pedestrians and help us to save time? Kudos to who ever created this amazing vehicle. Kudos to the other inventors of the various vehicles. The car, the bus, the train the plane. They all help us keep up with time help us break all physical barriers to fulfill our needs and wants. And thus it is an important factor to be studied in geography.

Preserved in the zoo, its habitat is probably is the process of destruction as people walk pass to marvel at its amazing features. Its beloved trees probably sawed down to make the furniture you and I sit on or probably are about to throw away. Its forest playground probably cleared for the houses you and I gladly live in or are complaining about becasue of its lack of facilities. Have we ever spared a thought for this monkey we see in front of us? Have we thought of a way to ensure its presence? Do we even bother about it being dead or alive? Have you considered its importance? Well, at least the study of geography reminds us about it.

Water – the most essential life-sustaining substance on earth – has no substitute. But, water quality is declining due to climate change, pollution and many other human activities like mining and indiscriminate dumping of garbage.

All of us staying on this earth’s surface must make concrete efforts to protect water quality and this must begin at the sources of pollution – if not, we will see more and more polluted water like the kind you see in the glass in the foreground of this picture, whilst clean water gets more scarce and “distant” from us by the day.

A stump is developed from a stack which has undegone coastal erosion. Learning of geography is not confined to just books, and this photo had just reminded me of marine erosion which is taking place now.
